1

PASTURE RAISED

Our cattle spend most of their lives grazing on lush pasture, enjoying a natural grass diet while giving back to the land which they feed. This natural diet produces leaner beef and a rich, earthy flavor, higher in healthy omega-3s and vitamins. While they may also be given supplemental feed, such as grain or hay, pasture-raised cows prioritize grazing on fresh, grass as a major part of their lives. Providing grains during the last few months of their lives, gives that beautiful marbling, making the beef tender, juicy and full of rich flavor.

2

WHICH IS HEALTHIER?

From a nutritional standpoint, Grass-fed beef is generally considered the healthier option for most people. It contains less total fat and has a better balance of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids, which can help reduce inflammation and support heart health.

Pasture raised with limited grains isn’t "unhealthy" but it tends to have more total fat and less omega-3 content, while being richer in marbling and having a milder taste.

LOCAL IS BETTER

At J&J, we believe the best food comes from close to home. When you buy from us, you're getting more than legendary beef, fresh eggs and pasture raised lamb - you're supporting local agriculture and building a connection to the people who raise your food.

Local means fresher, more flavor and raised with care you can see for yourself. Smaller farms like ours are closer to the animals, every day resulting in healthy, happy cows.

FAQ

What is the cost of a whole cow?

Our cost is $3.59/lb. live weight*. The total weight of a whole cow can range between 800 to 1200 lbs.

A $500 non-refundable deposit is due at time of order. This deposit will come off the remaining balance, which is due before the processing date.

*This price does not include processing.

How much meat do I get with a whole cow?

Estimated take home is roughly 55% of the live weight. You can expect to get approximately 400 lbs. of meat from a whole cow. As always, it depends on the live weight of your cow.

How do I order?

We have limited availability - Email or call us today to inquire about reserving your cow.

The deposit is paid, what's next?

You reserved a cow and paid the deposit - what's next? We will confirm the process date with Farmerstown Meats.  One month prior to that date, we weigh the cow, and the remaining balance is due before it goes to processing. Once the butcher has your cow, there is a hang time of 2 weeks.  The butcher will communicate with you directly regarding their fees, cut/wrap options and when they will have your beef ready.
